Australia is not only the land of the kookaburra. It also has magnificent scenery. There are also many beautiful flowers.
Today my wife and her Australian friend were chatting about this and that and they got onto the subject of the flowers in her Australian garden. We asked her to send some pictures, which she did with some comments.

Speckled mousebird nest destroyed in storm 😥
A few days ago, a gale, accompanied by hail, destroyed this beautiful speckled mousebird nest in Port Elizabeth.
In the days leading up to the disaster, my good friends had been watching the mousebirds build the nest, which was not finished.
There was no evidence of eggs or chicks.
You can see the size of the nest by comparing it with the tennis ball.
For the mousebirds it’s “Back to the drawing board”.
Very sad. but nature will bounce back. 🙂

Wagtail mom feeding her chicks
Watch mother wagtail feeding her chicks. The kids in the front are clearly on the lookout for mom. Note “dozy” at the back busy preening! Then mom arrives with the food. The reaction of the chicks, including “dozy”, is instant. Yip – I was very lucky to take the video. What a joy!
